A MUST read dark fantasy series. Can I even call it romance? The rollercoaster ride on this one is crazy.

Legacy of the Nine Realms Series Amelia Hutchins
Aria and her sisters return to Haven Falls to find a missing member of their group, only to discover significant changes in the realm, including Knox, who has declared himself King in their absence. Despite their animosity, sparks fly between Aria and Knox as they clash over power and identity. Aria realizes her true potential beyond her witch heritage, while Knox grapples with conflicting desires and ulterior motives. Their tumultuous relationship unfolds amidst a backdrop of impending war, challenging them to confront their pasts and embrace their destinies in this epic fantasy tale filled with love-hate dynamics and mature themes. I am not going to sugar coat it. The first book is definitely good in spicy dialogue but it felt a bit cringy in the main dialogue at times. It didn't start of strong, but by the end of the first book I was more than intrigued. When I say that the authors growth throughout this series was phenomenal in terms of writing. I mean it! By the third book in the series I absolutely loved the dynamic of the main character. It brought a new aspect of fantasy race/creatures to the table. Nonetheless I was hooked. Amelia Hutchins weaves a heavily interwoven story that keeps evolving book after book. It also explores heavier themes throughout the books such as abuse, loss, grief, emotional abuse, and more that feels authentic to the characters stories. If you love dark romance, add to your TBR list. And if you happen to love theories, each book will leave you reeling to figure out where the story will go next.
"It soaked your c*nt at the idea of my teeth claiming your throat; that’s dangerous, Aria.” - Flames of Chaos
The main male interest, Knox, in this series is so devastatingly wicked, heartwarmingly somewhat sweet and so dang infuriating at times. Never had I read a book that made me blush so much. It was very much on the unexpected side and not for the faint at heart. When I say this book is a bit on the dark side, believe me. I could not help but fall for the main male character and just like Amelia forewarns, you may not exactly like the male character at first but you eventually learn to love them in all their grey areas. Not to mention, I learned a lot of new....terms within this series.
“The hardest part of losing someone isn’t saying goodbye. It’s learning how to live without them.” - Ashes of Chaos
Amelia delves into heavy themes throughout the course of Aria's story and even more so with very complicated characters that have complex motivators. She does this exceptionally well that you feel the weight of those impactful movements even more while reading. Not only does she make you feel the weight of the moment in itself, but also the aftermath of the moment and various impacting relationship affects. Throughout the books you may even feel conflicted on what the main character should do and perhaps how she goes about doing so. I think that brings real depth to the characters, the person we are rooting for may not always be good. That in itself makes one complexly human but also makes you think as a reader. It makes Aria's arc even better to witness.
“Do you know what the scariest creature in the world is, {redacted} ?”.... “A woman who has nothing left to lose and chooses to build chaos since she is left in only ruins.” - Ruins of Chaos
Between the pages Amelia leaves breadcrumbs for us to unravel theories of who Aria is and the prophecies surrounding her. She also manages to still keep me on my toes while reading that I'm not quite sure what might happen next. As an avid reader this is very difficult to achieve as I am usually being spoon fed the foreshadowing that I can see the plot 10 miles down the road. The Legacy of the Nine Realms while starting off shaky is shaping up to be a rollercoaster ride that still holds surprises while delivering on depth and spice. I would say it's definitely worth adding to the TBR list and giving the first two books a try.
